On August 20, 2025, at approximately 7:30 PM, I, Officer Thomas Lambert was assigned to East-1 during the 4PM-12AM shift. I was dispatched to 105 Middlesex Avenue (TJ MAXX) for a shoplifter. The individual was described as a Hispanic female wearing camo pants and jean jacket walking towards 301 Artisan Way (Express). East-4 Officer Gianna Ferrara and East-3 Officer Robert Hartsgrove responded as well.
Upon my arrival, Officer Ferrara located the suspect matching the description that dispatch gave in front of 455 Grand Union Boulevard (Puma) with the TJ MAXX Loss Prevention Officer (LPO). The female, later identified as Ms. Dena Veiga had $150 worth of clothing items inside of a reusable bag. I would like to note that Ms. Veiga had a knife used to cut off the security devices from the items to prevent the security alarms from going off while exiting the store with the merchandise. The knife will be entered into evidence and all items were returned to the store.
Through a query via CJIS, dispatch notified Officers that Ms. Veiga had 2 outstanding warrants docket numbers (2455CR000789, 2555CR000221).
Ms. Veiga was placed under arrest and transported by Unit 200, Officer Matthew McCune back to Somerville Police Headquarters and booked in the usual manner by the shift commander, Lieutenant Michael Capasso.
Ms. Veiga will be charged with the following:
-CH. 266 S.30A SHOPLIFTING BY CONCEALING MERCHANDISE
-CH.266 S.30B REMOVAL OF THEFT DETECTION DEVICE
Respectfully submitted,
Officer Thomas Lambert
