On 11/18/25 I was working Patrol in cruiser E1 on a FH shift. At around 2118 multiple SPD units responded to Taco Loco for a fight involving a weapon. I arrived and spoke to a witness; XXXX. She reported that Mr. XXXX (V1) was hit in the head by a hammer by a suspect now trying to flee. I noted V1 on the sidewalk with a wound to his head that was bleeding. Ms. XXXX pointed to the suspect going down Broadway almost a block away.

I ran up to the suspect, later identified as Mr. F Rasate-Reyes (S1). I took control of him and assisted him to the ground in order to secure him. At this time, DET T Lambert arrived on scene and assisted me in handcuffing S1. S1 was searched and a hammer head was found on the ground beside where I placed him into custody.

Via a passerby who speaks Spanish, I asked V1 if the suspect hit him in the head with a hammer. He said yes. V1 was transported to CHA Cambridge. S1 was placed under arrest for one count of ABDW. The hammer was placed into evidence. There was some blood on the ground and the Health DEPT was contacted to clean it. I asked Taco Loco staff for CCTV footage. They said only a manager can get to it and one was not working at this time.
