Narrative:

On Thursday, June 18th, 2026, I was working my assigned 8AM to 4PM shift in the West-7 cruiser. At around 1:05PM, Officer Ryan Westgate (West-6), and I responded to 30 Howard Street, for a report of a man walking in and out of condo units, claiming to be looking for a climbing gym. The following is a summary of the incident:

Upon our arrival, we were met by the property manager, Mr. XXXX. When the incident occurred, Mr. XXXX was on the third floor of the building, with Mr. XXXX who was doing construction on a unit, with the door open.

Mr. XXXX stated that a white, male, with red hair and a red shirt walked into the unit that was under construction, walked around and said that he was looking for a climbing gym. The male was later identified as Mr. Jeremy Kanovsky. Mr. XXXX told Mr. Kanovsky that there was no climbing gym in the building. He then observed Mr. Kanovsky walk down the catwalk and into apartment number 5, which is an occupied unit, belonging to Ms. XXXX. Mr. Kanovsky then opened the fully-closed, unlocked door and began walking around the unit. He continued to walk around the unit, even after seeing Ms. XXXX, who was in her apartment at the time. Mr. XXXX then walked into the unit and told Mr. Kanovsky to leave. Mr. Kanovsky said "Okay," but then walked to the other side of the unit. Mr. XXXX then told him a second time to leave and informed him that the police would be called. That was when Mr. XXXX called 911. Once outside the unit, Mr. Kanovsky looked inside the windows into other, occupied units, until ultimately sitting down on the scaffolding, on the catwalk, where we located him.

Mr. XXXX stated that after calling 911, he immediately went to check on Ms. XXXX who was visibly shaken and in shock.

When I asked Ms. XXXX what happened, her eyes were watery and she could not even catch her breathe to explain it because she was so scared. She couldn't even describe where in the home she was because she was in such shock. All she could say was that he just opened the door and walked in, without a care. I later called Ms. XXXX around 2:30PM and she stated that she was feeling better now but that she was still pretty shaken up over it. She expressed how scared she was and stated that she has never had something like this happen before. She even asked me if she should be concerned that Mr. Kanovsky was "casing" the place to return again.

When asked what he was doing, Mr. Kanovsky at first stated that he was looking for a climbing gym. We advised him that this was all apartment buildings, to which he then said he was just trying to find a place to sleep. He also added that he did recently discover Adderall and that he has not gotten much sleep lately due to it.

I placed Mr. Kanovsky under arrest for the following:

- One count, Massachusetts General Law C. 266 S.17/B: Breaking and Entering Daytime, Person in Fear

When the prisoner transport wagon (Unit 200), arrived on scene, operated by Officer Charles O'Leary arrived, we informed Mr. Kanovsky that Officer O'Leary was going to search him again before putting into the wagon to transport him back to the station. As Officer O'Leary went towards Mr. Kanovsky, Mr. Kanovsky said to him "I'm gonna kick you in the face," and proceeded to deliver a kick to Officer O'Leary, striking him on the right thigh. As Mr. Kanovsky wailed a kick at Officer O'Leary, Officer Westgate and I escorted him to the ground. While escorting Mr. Kanovsky to the ground, he was still kicking his feet, creating a hazardous condition for all parties involved, which prevented us from safely completing the arrest procedure. Due to Mr. Kanovsky's behavior, my left wrist twisted backwards while escorting him to the ground, creating severe pain afterward.

While on the ground, I thoroughly advised Mr. Kanovsky that he would not be let up until he calmed down as he was creating unsafe conditions. He agreed to stop being aggressive and was brought to his feet, searched and placed into the prisoner transport wagon without further incident.

It should be noted that at the time that Mr. Kanovsky kicked Officer O'Leary, he was wearing sneakers. A picture of the sneakers have been attached to this report.

I have added the following charges due to Mr. Kanovsky's behavior while trying to complete the arrest procedures:

- One count, Massachusetts General Law C. 265 S.15A/A: Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon

- One count, Massachusetts General Law C.268 S.32B: Resisting Arrest

Respectfully submitted,

Officer Priscilla Ribeiro #349
