On July 27, 2025 at 5:30PM, Somerville Police received a call for a shoplifter from the Target located at 180 Somerville Avenue. The caller was a male named XXXX, a member of the store's loss prevention team.

He reported that the suspect was becoming aggressive and requested police assistance. I was later dispatched to the store along with Somerville Officer Gianna Ferrara.

On arrival, I observed a young black male standing at the entrance of the door of the loss prevention office. An LP team member named XXXX was sitting at a desk inside the office speaking to the individual.

I approached Ms. XXXX and inquired of the individual's status. She told me that the male refused to provide any form of identification. She explained that she saw him walk past the cash registers without paying for approximately twelve dollars worth of Target merchandise.

I explained to the male that an identification was necessary for verification purposes. He refused to produce any documents arguing that he didn't have to. I placed him under arrest for Shoplifting. He was later identified as Christopher Battlemore. A search of his bag revealed an updated total value of  stolen merchandise to twenty six dollars and ninety eight cents.

Mr. Battlemore was transported to Somerville Police headquarters in the prisonner transport vehicle and booked by the Officer in charge, Lieutenant Mike Holland.
