Narrative: 

On Thursday, September 17th, 2026, I was working my assigned 8AM to 4PM shift in the East-4 cruiser. At around 12:09PM, I was dispatched to 34 Putnam Road, for a report of a report of a male resident destroying another male resident's bedroom. Officer Jorge Morel (East-1) and Sergeant James Torres (Sierra-9) also responded. The following is a summary of the incident:

Upon arrival, we were met by the reporting party, Ms. XXXX, Mr. Courtney Christian and Ms. XXXX. They were walking down the stairs to escort Mr. Christian outside to get some air. Mr. Christian remained outside with Officer Morel while I went inside to speak with the Ms. XXXX who is the Program Director for the group home.

Ms. XXXX stated that Mr. Christian has been having on-going issues with another resident of the group home, XXXX, herein after referred to as Juvenile 1. However, last night and this morning, the two were getting along with each other again and even seen leaving the home together last night. In a turn of events, after Juvenile 1 left for school today, Mr. Christian started yelling about Juvenile 1 taking his hat and stated that JV1 was wearing his hat when he left to school today. She thought they addressed this issue and that Mr. Christian let Juvenile 1 borrow the hat. But, Mr. Christian stated that he no longer let him borrow it and that Juvenile 1 took it out of his room. So, Mr. Christian then went into Juvenile 1's room and "destroyed it."

At first glance into the bedroom, I did notice clothes and toiletries on the floor, things thrown about and flipped over, but I did not enter the room as I was speaking with Ms. XXXX about specifics regarding Mr. Christian.  She stated that Mr. Christian is not diagnosed with anything and does not take any medications other than a multi-vitamin. She stated that he did not go to school today because he got suspended from school for fighting and that a couple of weeks ago he broke the refrigerator in the house. She called their clinician and he stated the same, that Mr. Christian does not have any diagnoses but that he believed that he has misplaced anger that has not been diagnosed.

Mr. Christian was evaluated by Cataldo and refused medical attention. He was alert, coherent and calm while talking to officers. He said that they could not force him to go to the hospital because he was 18 and that he was just going to go out for a little. Ms. XXXX confirmed that Mr. Christian just turned 18 and that he was a voluntary placement in the home by DCF. She stated that their clinician did not feel there was enough to section him but they did prefer he go to the hospital for evaluation.

Mr. Christian stated that he did go into Juvenile 1's room because he saw Juvenile 1 leave with his hat on his head this morning. When asked why he didn't just speak to Juvenile 1 about it this morning, he said because he was sick of speaking to him so he decided to "trash his room instead." I explained to him that it was still a crime to destroy his room and he stated that it was better than fighting him. He reiterated that he was sick of talking to Juvenile 1 and sick of him touching his stuff. He also said there was nothing else to do because he has reported it to the staff and Juvenile 1 still takes his stuff, so he was sick of it. He also added that the reason he is in this home is because he fought with his brother once for touching his stuff. He said he does not like people touching his stuff and that was what Juvenile 1 gets for touching his stuff over and over again. He continued on that this has been going on for weeks with Juvenile 1. I asked about him and Juvenile 1 seeming okay with one another last night and this morning and he said that was until he took his hat again this morning.

Mr. Christian then said that if Juvenile 1 comes back home tonight and there is a single crease or dirty mark on his $500 hat, that wasn't there before, "on dead dogs, he's gonna see." I advised Mr. Christian that it would be in his best interest to call the police or go direct with the staff should he have any issues with Juvenile 1 going forward. He again repeated that "on dead dogs, he's gonna see." I then advised him that I would be informing the staff about his statements and he asked that I tell the staff that Juvenile 1 still has a pair of sneakers of his that he wants back. Before making my way back up stairs to speak with Ms. XXXX, I advised Mr. Christian to remain outside with Officer Morel. I then asked staff to take me to Juvenile 1's bedroom again so I could document the condition for my report.  

The Direct Care Staff, Ms. XXXX escorted me to the room. She stated that she also saw what happened and stated that Mr. Christian flipped over the mattress in Juvenile 1's bedroom, dumped everything out of drawers and closets, threw a plate of chicken bones on the ground, breaking it and dumped out all of Juvenile 1's toiletries on the ground. I noticed a bottle of shampoo dumped out onto the ground, a broken bottle of perfume spilled on the ground, an open container of Vaseline with the Vaseline rubbed on the ground, and several other open toiletry items that were dumped out onto the ground. The floor was wet, making it difficult to walk around. Pictures have been attached.

Ms. XXXX also added that him and Juvenile 1 were getting along last night because he told Juvenile 1 "I have the good stuff," as they left together yesterday.

It should also be noted that Ms. XXXX stated that Mr. Christian had an extended kitchen lighter in his pocket while he was destroying Juvenile 1's bedroom. He did not use it or make threats with it but she was confused as to why he would have it at all.

While I was upstairs with Ms. XXXX, I heard Mr. Christian's voice yell, "I don't give a fuck, I'm leaving." At this point, I went into Mr. Christian's bedroom and placed Mr. Christian under arrest for Massachusetts General Law C. 266 s.126A: Malicious Destruction of Property.

Officer Morel stated that while they were outside, Mr. Christian stated that he said he was leaving. Officer Morel advised him that he was not yet free to leave. Mr. Christian disregarded Officer Morel and began walking up the stairs to his bedroom to retrieve his jacket. Officer Morel told him that he was not leaving yet and he told him "I don't give a fuck what you say, I'm leaving."

Mr. Christian was transported back to the station by Unit 200, the prisoner transport wagon, operated by Officer Patrick Barton. During the booking process, Mr. Christian was given a phone call and informed that his phone call was audio and video recorded. Officer Barton reported that he told the person on the other line, who he believes to be his DCF social worker, "I just trashed his room looking for something."
