On Friday, November 21, 2025, at approximately 4:40 PM, I, Officer Richard Lavey III, was working in car East 2 when I was dispatched to Marshall's at 14 McGrath Highway for the report of a shoplifter. Officer Johnson was on detail at the shopping plaza, he and Officer Desrochers responded as backup.

Upon arrival, Officer Johnson was with the suspect, later identified as Sahr QUINAMA, and two employees of Marshall's in their security office. The employees of Marshall's were trying to obtain QUINAMA's name and address to serve him a notice saying he had been trespassed. QUINAMA had with him a large yellow bag full of ground coffee. When asked why he had so much, QUINAMA stated he is a caterer. Officer Johnson attempted to find QUINAMA in CJIS, but the fake name he gave, XXXX, did not show any records. QUINAMA eventually showed us his wallet which had one card in it for someone named "Sahr QUINAMA." This name showed up in a query on CJIS with a picture matching the suspect. When looking at the card, QUINAMA said "That doesn't belong to me" I then asked QUINAMA why he had a card that did not belong to him and he did not answer. It was confirmed through dispatch QUINAMA had 7 warrants including 5 charges of shoplifting, 1 charge of larceny, 1 charge of drug possession, and 1 charge of resisting arrest.

QUINAMA was informed he was being placed under arrest and, though seemed completely fine prior to finding out he was being placed under arrest, started slouching over in the chair, swaying back and forth, and stopped talking. When the transport wagon arrived on scene QUINAMA was placed in handcuffs and escorted to the wagon. When QUINAMA was out of Marshall's, before he got to the wagon, he went completely limp relying on myself and another officer to carry his weight. QUINAMA was placed on the ground propped against a pillar at first and then put into recovery position where he was monitored until EMS arrived.

Cataldo ambulance transported QUINAMA to Cambridge Hospital where he was still under arrest. I travelled to Cambridge Hospital with QUINAMA until he was discharged by the hospital shortly after his evaluation. QUINAMA told employees of the hospital he had taken 1 gram of fentanyl at 6:00 PM today. QUINAMA was in police custody at 6:00 PM and did not ingest any substances while in our custody. When being discharged from the hospital QUINAMA refused to cooperate, requiring Officer Clancy and I to transport him with a wheelchair to the transport wagon. When leaving the hospital, QUINAMA ejected himself out of the wheel chair. A nurse was next to the wheelchair at the time of this incident, and after evaluating QUINAMA, indicated he was still set to leave. QUINAMA was placed back into the wheelchair, brought to the wagon, and transported to the Somerville Police Station where he was booked by Lt. Capasso.

While I was at the hospital with QUINAMA, Officer Desrochers spoke to the assistant district manager at Star Market, XXXX. XXXX showed Officer Desrochers video of QUINAMA walking into the store without any bag visible, and walking out of the store with a yellow bag full of ground coffee from Cafe Bostelo. QUINAMA did not pay for this merchandise. Only three items were left on the shelf from Cafe Bostelo, indicating QUINAMA used his arm to pull all of the merchandise off the shelf into his bag. 16 packages of Cafe Bostelo Ground coffee were recovered and logged into evidence by Officer Buswell. Each package costs $8.99 totaling $143.84. Marshall's provided a receipt with all of the jewelry, clothes, and bags QUINAMA attempted to steal totaling $513.93.  A copy of the receipt will be logged into evidence.

While outside waiting for the ambulance, I was approached by XXXX who identified herself as the manager of K&G. XXXX stated she recognized QUINAMA as someone who caused a ruckus in her store several weeks ago by yelling and cursing at employees. XXXX trespassed QUINAMA from K&G. XXXX was also trespassed from Marshall's. QUINAMA was placed under arrest for his 7 warrants (Dockets: 2509CR000195, 2509CR000135, 2409CR000509, 2409CR000353, 2508CR000317, 2401CR000276, 2510CR000019), and charge with two counts of shoplifting by concealment. A video is available at Star Market but XXXX stated he would procure it at this time. The video will remain available for 30 days according to XXXX.

Respectfully submitted,
